SMIRK Contest and QSL Update

by Dave Kalahar 6/23/2008 6:46:00 PM

Worked a brief 6 meter opening on Saturday afternoon during the SMIRK 6-meter contest.  I figured it might be worth submitting the score:
Q: 21 - Q Points: 24 - Mults 12.  Claimed score of 288

Heck it was lots of fun and worked a couple of XE grids in the process.

Today I received a QSL from VY1EI for a 20 meter CW QSO.  Thanks Eric.

ARRL June VHF Party

I was really hoping to experience a good e-skip opening this year.  It was not to be.  However, I did manage a qso with KH7Y during a five minute opening.  My first Hawaii 6 meter contact.  Thanks!

Due to work commitments, I missed the Sunday opening.  The good news is that I did much better this year than last, and worked most of the close in grids on brief openings.  It was good to meet my fellow VHF operators.  It's great to have a new radio and I've managed 45 grids worked since the first of May.

2008 June VHF Party
50 - 18
144 - 9
430 - 6
Total 33 Q - 39 Q Points 15 Mults for a total claimed score of 585

I've been active on 6 meters in the past couple of weeks and a few cards are coming in.  Also have a few good LOTW confirms too!

KB7ME - 6 Meter SSB with SASE
AA5EA - 6 Meter SSB
J7DX - 14,20,40 CW return in 2 month.  They had already QSLed via LOTW
